The meanings of HALAL

Whether we realized or not, most or some people assume the food is HALAL as long as it does't content any alcoholic substances or just merely isn't pork. Funny, isn't it? 'No pork & Alcohol served' signs enough to make Muslim to have a dine there. Nowadays. Oh. I, myself just knew the real meaning of Halal term during my last semester subject: Food Service Law. But before this its just my curiosity that holds me back from those suspicious situation. Lucky i took food service instead of hotelier as for minor program.Hehe. Oh and lucky some more, my employers understood the importance of legal Halal signs for us, muslim. Not the handmade signs, okay.
MALAYSIA halal logo:
Eight-pointed star is placed in the middle of the circle.
A word-Halal in Arabic is placed in the middle of the star.
It is then followed a halal word in Roman.
The circle of the logo contains, the word "Malaysia" in Roman and Arabic.
Two small five-pointed stars are placed to separate the Roman and Arabic word.

Why i post this entry? Not long before, while i was blog walking (blogwalking je kau), a blogger story her relative told there is a non-alcoholic Malta. Then she told, since there is no presence of alcohol, it is safe to drink by muslim. Waddaheck... Oh mungkin dia tak tahu.. *positive2*. Tapi still la kan, if u know Malta in Malaysia is from Guinness which also produces stout and draught, would u still able to digest it?? Do you even know how their smells are? *try working at the bar@hotel*Okay, enough of the bubbling mumbling.

From the Islamic laws, Halal means lawful or permissible in Arabic words. Definition of Halal in accordance to Trade Descriptions ( Use of expression "halal" ) 1975 is as follows:

When used in relation to food in any form whatsoever in the course of trade or business as or as part of, a trade description applied to the food, the expression "Halal" , "Di-Tanggung Halal" or "Makanan Halal" or any other expression indicating or likely to be understood as indicating that Muslims are permitted by their religion to consume such food such expression shall heve the following meaning, that is to say the food in relation to which such expression or expressions are used:
  1. Neither is nor consist of or contains any part or matter of an animal that a Muslim is prohibited by Hukum Syarak to consume or that has not been slaughtered in accordance with Hukum Syarak.
  2. Does not contain anything which is considered to be impure according to Hukum Syarak.
  3. Has not been prepared, processed or manufactured using instrument that was not free from anything impure according to Hukum Syarak; and
  4. Has not in the course of preparation, processing or storage been in contact with or close proximity to any food that fails to satisfy paragraph (1) (2) or (3) or anything that is considered to be impure according to Hukum Syarak.
Usually most people did not realised the importance of the point (3) and (4). Kebersihan itu kan sebahagian dari Iman. So its important in Islam. Sekarang dah tahu kan?? Lepas ni pandai-pandai la bawa diri.. Adios~
